Correction - GRIC EMS Receive Dispatch Certification - Letter to the Editor of the GRIN

Dear Editor: Thank you for the article on Emergency Medical Dispatch which was published in the December 2007 edition of Gila River Indian News, we very much enjoyed it. However, we would like to inform you that it contained some incorrect information, specifically in the first two (2) paragraphs. Gila River EMS respectfully requests the correct information be disseminated in the January 2008 GRIN.

Here is the correct information:
Gila River EMS submitted a nomination to the National Native American EMS Association in recognition of the Gila River Indian Community Telecommunications Center's efforts and progress in implementing the Emergency Medical Dispatch program.

The Gila River Indian Community Telecommunications Center was recognized and awarded "First Responder of the Year" for their dedication and commitment in developing and implementing the Emergency Medical Dispatch program.

The Tele-Communicators (aka: Dispatchers) are employees of the Gila River Police Department and are responsible for call taking and assigning resources on all emergency services incidents, whether; fire, law enforcement or emergency medical services.

The "First Responder of the Year" award is a major accomplishment not only for the Telecommunications Center, but the Community as a whole.
